Man severs both hands of electrician in Moratuwa

A man who came in a motorcycle had severed both hands of an electrician with a sword and had taken them away with him, Moratuwa Police said. The incident had taken place at around 7.30pm on Tuesday at the Delgahawatta junction in Moratuwa.

The victim, who was seriously injured, was admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital. He is a resident of Koralawella.

The motorcycle man, who chased him, had attacked him with a sword. The victim had tried to defend himself with his hands, but the attacker had amputated the hands from the wrist. The attacker had then removed his shirt, wrapped the hands, which fell onto the floor, with it and fled with them.

Several police teams have been appointed to arrest the suspect. Police said the suspect has had an extramarital affair with the victim’s wife.
