Locomotive Engineers announces a 24-hour strike

The Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Association of Sri Lanka Railways has announced a 24-hour strike.

According to the union chairman, the strike will be implemented from midnight today (14 March).

Several trade unions in the country are currently on strike and are scheduled to launch a large scale strike on 15 March. These strikes will significantly impact the daily lives of the ordinary citizens due to lack of access to essential services.
