IND vs AUS: Massive records Virat Kohli eyes on ahead of ODI series against Australia

New Delhi: After retaining Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia, the focus now shifted to One Day International (ODI). India and Australia are slated to play three matches ODI series against Australia from Friday, March 17.

Virat Kohli ends Test century drought

All eyes will be on the former captain and in-form batter Virat Kohli as the star batter will look to continue his form from where he left in the fourth and final Test match in Ahmedabad.

Virat ended his Test drought after 3.5 years and scored memorable 186 against Australia. The star batter will look forward to continue his purple patch. Before the Test match, Kohli was in great touch in ODI’s and smashed 2 hundreds in 3 matches against Sri Lanka.

Virat can overtake Sachin, Ponting

The 34-year-old batter will be eyeing on the major milestone ahead of India vs Australia ODI series that will be held in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Chennai. The former captain is 191 runs away from becoming the 5th batter to complete 13,000 runs in ODI cricket after Sachin Tendulkar (18426), Kumar Sangakkara (14,234), Ricky Ponting (13,704), and Sanath Jayasuriya (13,430).

Virat Kohli is also 3 century away from equalling Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of most ODI hundreds (49). Notably, Kohli has hit 3 hundreds in a span of the last 4 months after having ended his long wait for the ODI century in Bangladesh last December.

Meanwhile, Kohli will eyeing for another landmark achievement in his career. Virat also looks to overtake Australian former captain Rickey Ponting in the list of batters, who had scored more runs in ODI cricket at home. Virat, is just third in the list behind Tendulkar and Ponting.

Virat, Rohit race for supremacy against Australia

Virat and Rohit will also facing each other in the race of supremacy against Australia in ODI. Both the batters have 8 ton each against Australia in ODI cricket and need one more to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most hundreds in India vs Australia ODIs.
