IND vs AUS: KL Rahul puts India on front foot; 150 up for Men in Blue

New Delhi: Indian opener batter KL Rahul notched up to his fifty in the first One Day International (ODI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. This is a colossal innings from KL Rahul.

KL scores fifty

The wicket-keeper batter reached to his half-century with a single. 73 balls he had faced and he came in when India were in all sorts of trouble. Now he has put them on their way to taking a 1-0 lead. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja stitched together the partnership of 57 off 84 balls.

On the second ball of the 31st over, Rahul ended up getting an outside edge off Cameron Green and it is out of reach for Steve Smith at first slip. Starc gave it his everything and stopped it from reaching the boundary though.

Rahul poor run in Test

Rahul of course had the spotlight on him after being snubbed from the Test squad in the latter half of the recently concluded Test series. But he’s been influential for India at the Wankhede tonight.

India face early blow

India faced the early blow in the game, opener Ishan Kishan was the first one to departs. After that, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav’s wickets fell in quick succession off Mitchell Starc. Indian skipper Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul helped India to made a comeback in the game.

Pandya also returned towards pavilion , when Marcus Stoinis removed Pandya and India were five down for 83. After that, Ravindra Jadeja joined hands with KL Rahul and together they again sailed Indian ship at ease.

All-rounder Jadeja is currently batting on 36 runs off 63 balls.
