Prayagraj: The security of Judge Dinesh Chandra Shukla, who sentenced gangster Atiq Ahmed and two others to life imprisonment in Umesh pal abduction case, has increased. The judge has been given Y+ security.
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf and other accused were produced in Prayagraj’s MP-MLA court in connection with 2006 Umesh pal kidnapping case. The court convicted three and acquitted seven people including Atiq’s brother Ashraf.
Along with judge Dinesh Chandra Shukla, security has also been tightened around the Prayagraj MP-MLA court premises where Atiq Ahmed and two other accused were convicted and awarded life imprisonment.
According to media reports, a high-level meeting took place after the incident, in which it was decided to extend Y-plus security to the judge.
Atiq Ahmad, a former Samajwadi party Member of Parliament, was shifted to Sabarmati Central Jail in June 2019 following an order of the Supreme court after UP police accused him of planning the kidnapping and assault of a businessman Mohit Jaiswal from prison in Uttar Pradesh. The special MP-MLA court Judge Dinesh Shukla awarded Atiq, Saulat Hanif and Dinesh Pasi.
