Galle Harbour Police acting OIC interdicted over arrack bribe

The Senior Deputy Inspector General of Southern Province has interdicted the officer who worked as the acting OIC of Galle Harbour Police  over an incident where a lorry seized transporting soil without a licence had been released without presenting it to court after allegedly accepting two bottles of arrack.

It is said that several politicians and police officers have even made phone calls to the Acting OIC requesting him to release this lorry.

The police information also stated that the officer has made notes in the police books in this regard. It is also said that the soil in the lorry was being taken to a site where a hotel is being built in Unawatuna.

Police information disclosed that two bottles of alcohol were taken for the retirement party of an officer which was held recently and the owner of the hotel related to the incident had given it.
