Furniture store burns down from a fire at Kotagala

According to DimbulaPathanaPolice a fire broke out in a furniture store in Kotagalatown in Hattlast night (05 March) and three adjoining shops belonging to that store were completely destroyed by fire.

Last night when the owner of the shop and his wife were staying in the upstairs house (above the store) a fire has broken out in the shop floor (downstairs), the two has run out of the house.

The fire which was spreading was brought under control by the merchants of Kotagala town, DimbulaPathana police officers, army officers from Kotagala army camp and estate workers.

After the fire was brought under control, the Nuwara Eliya Municipality’s firefighting unit arrived at the place and the people who were staying at the place protested about their late arrival.

The loss caused by the fire has not been assessed yet, and the DimbulaPathana Police, who are investigating the fire, said that the cause of the fire was an electrical leak.
