The official ceremony for the distribution of fuel donated by the Chinese government for free to the farmers of this country was held yesterday (02 March) at Trincomalee Kutchaveli Petrol Station under the leadership of Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mr. Qi Zhenhong and Eastern Province Governor Mrs. Anuradha Yahampath.
The total amount of fuel donated by the Chinese government to the farmers is 6.98 million liters. Among them, 300,000 liters of fuel was to be distributed to the farming families of Trincomalee district.
The Chinese Ambassador and the Governor distributed the coupons given to the farmers to get fuel on the recommendation of the Department of Agricultural Development. Afterwards, to mark this occasion, the governor and the ambassador pumped fuel from the gas station to afew farmers.
Maha Sangharatnaya, Provincial Chief Secretary R. M. P. S. Ratnayake, Trincomalee District Secretary B. H. M. Jayawardene, Chairman ofKuchchaveli Regional Council M. Mubarak, Regional Managers of Petroleum Corporation and others were present at this occasion.
