Cricket Advisory Committee is a must, said former cricket officials

The special Cricket Advisory Committee is very important and it has to be appointed soon for the benefit of cricket development, said former cricket administration heads (Presidents and Secretaries) at the discussion with the Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe at the Sports Ministry Board room last Monday.

The sports Minister has invited former cricket admin heads to share their views about the changes to the cricket constitutions made by the Minister with a gazette notification on December 14. The Minister discussed the changes one by one and former cricket board heads gave their opinions on these changes.

However most of them pointed out the importance of the Advisory Committee for the betterment of the game.

We are answerable to 22 million people and we can’t consider limited officials’ benefits and always wanted to serve cricket and the players added Sports Minister.

Few officials won’t like new changes because of their personal gains and they are criticizing us said Sports Minister.

The cricket admin officials went to court and the Sports Minister is planning to go to the supreme court against the previous decision before the cricket elections.

The former cricket board head Thilanga Sumathipala also pointed out the importance of the cricket advisory committee.

The National Sports Council Chairman Arjuna Ranatunga who was a one-time cricket Board Interim Board chairman, Upali Dharmadasa, Adel Hasheem, Kamal Padmasiri, Nishantha Ranatunga, K. Mathivanan, Kushil Gunasekara, Sports Director General Amal Edirisooriya and senior officials of the Sports Ministry participated in this discussion.
