Anti-Corruption Bill will be passed soon - Minister

Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena yesterday said the Anti-Corruption Bill will be passed in the Parliament in the next few weeks and will become a valid Act soon.

The Minister also said that legal provisions that can prevent large-scale corruption, including giving serious punishment to people  who commit fraud and corruption, have been included in this bill. The Minister also stated that a draft law to eradicate corruption has been prepared and has been submitted to the Parliament after obtaining clearances from the Attorney General and the approval of the Cabinet. The minister also stated that if the relevant law is implemented to the letter after the Bill becomes an Act, fraud and corruption in the country can be prevented.

The minister was speaking at the media briefing to announce Cabinet decisions.
