According to the Tangalle Police, an agricultural official was murdered in the Weliara, Netholpitiya area in Tangalle today early morning (27 March).
The Police stated that the female victim, is 30-year-old married woman named Deepashika Lak RuwaniWijedasa, a resident of Netolpitiya, Weliara. She has succumbed to her wounds after being attacked by a sharp object.
Preliminary Police investigations have revealed that the victim was attacked by a resident of the same area while she was on her way to work at the Agricultural centre. The police said that the suspect has attacked the victim over a dispute related to fertilizer. The suspect has been taken into custody by the Police.
Police also stated that further investigations are being carried out regarding the incident.
