7.1 Magnitude earthquake in New Zealand

An earthquake of 7.1 magnitude has struck Kermadec islands in New Zealand today (16 March) according to USGS (United States Geological survey).

Tsunami warnings have been issued by the US tsunami warning system. However, National Emergency Management Agency via a Tweet stated that there is no tsunami threat following the earthquake in the Southern Kermadec islands.
