2 die due to H3N2 virus in India; Health Officials warn against taking anti-biotics

New Delhi: As many as 2 deaths have been reported from Karnataka and from Haryana each due to influenza caused by the H3N2 virus, as per the sources from Health Ministry on Friday.

On March 6, a 82-year-old named Eregowda from Hassan district in Karnataka lost his life to the virus, confirmed Karnataka Health Commissioner D Randeep. Meanwhile, another victim Hire Gowda died on March 1. Reportedly, Gowda who was admitted on February 24th, was diabetic and suffering from hypertension.

As per media reports, there are nearly 90 cases across the nation while, eight active cases have been reported of the H1N1 virus.

Earlier, the Indian Medical Association has advised against taking anti-biotics before confirming whether the infection is bacterial citing that then, the patients can develop a resistance.

Persistent cough, fever, chills, breathlessness and wheezing are the symptoms of H3N2 virus. Another symptoms are nausea, sore throat, body-ache and diarrhoea.
