Turkey-Syria Quake: Amid the dwindling hopes to rescue survivors in the debris from the earthquake in Turkey, a man has been pulled out from the sack after 160 hours.

Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations informed that the rescue teams from Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus pulled out a man on Sunday.

“Rescue work to remove the man from the rubble lasted more than four hours,” said the ministry on the Telegram messaging platform on Monday, reported the news agency Reuters.

The earthquake had hit Turkey and Syria which devasted the two countries, leaving many trapped under rubbles. In the latest, the United Nations said, as per the news agency, that over 5.3 people may be homeless in Syria in the aftermath of the quake.

Around 9 lakh people are in urgent need to get hot food. Over 34,000 people have lost their lives in the magnitude 7.8 quake that hit Turkey and Syria last week.

Tens of thousands of people were left injured and trapped.

India’s dog squad saves 6-yr-old 

In an humanitarian move, India has also extended his support to the two countries affected by the quake. Romeo and Juliet, part of the India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) dog squad, have rescued a 6-year-old girl in one of the severely affected areas of Turkey, Nurdagi.

The dog squad was instrumental in detecting the little girl’s whereabouts under tonnes of rubble.

Appreciating NDRF for saving the girl, Home Minister Amit Shah later tweeted, ” Proud of our NDRF. In the rescue operations in Turkiye, Team IND-11 saved the life of a six-year-old girl, Beren, in Gaziantep city. Under the guidance of PM @narendramodi, we are committed to making @NDRFHQ the world’s leading disaster response force. #OperationDost.”
