Tamil actor Mayilsamy dies at 57

INDIA: Tamil film industry suffered a significant loss as veteran comic actor R Mayilsamy,   popularly known as Mayilsamy, passed away after suffering a Cardiac arrest. The actor, who was 57 years old, had been a part of over 200 movies in his 39-year-long career. He was known for his impeccable comic timing, which earned him the title of a scene-stealer.

Known for his comic roles, Mayilsamy has worked in over 200 Tamil films. Some of his acclaimed roles include ‘Dhool’, ‘Vaseegara’, ‘Ghilli’, ‘Giri’, ‘Uthamaputhiran’, ‘Veeram’, ‘Kanchana’, and ‘Kangalal Kaidhu Sei’, for which he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian.

Several fellow actors condoled the demise of Mayilsamy. Actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to share a tribute. “My friend Mylaswamy is successful in presenting his own style of comedy acting. He is thought by many to be helpful. A tribute to a dear friend #Mayilsamy,” he wrote. R Sarath Kumar wrote, “Shocked and shattered on hearing the untimely demise of my good friend, great human being, philanthropist Mayilsamy. Deeply saddened. My heartfelt condolences to his family, relative, friends and colleagues of the film industry #RipMayilsamy.”

Actor Sakshi Aggarwal wrote, “Shocked to hear the news. Your sense of humor and positive attitude always filled the shooting spot with laughter and happiness.. RIP #Mayilsamy sir. Condolences to family and friends.”
