Swimmer Senuja does Trinity proud

Senuja Samarasinghe 2022 Trinity College Swimming Captain has made his school and Kandy proud by been selected for the Sri Lanka National Swimming squad . He is a fine swimmer and took to this sport at the age of eight years in 2012. From the day he began swimming he has done well . He was in England in 2013, where he started competitive swimming. He returned in 2015 and swam for Trinity under the guidance of U.H.Pemlath a fine coach even today He is helping him. Senuja Samarasinghe who took a keen interest in swimming in his first meet in 2020 was placed seventh in the Pentathlon Short Course Swimming Championship, and was third in the backstroke event. For some time due to Covid Pandemic meets were halted, and Senuja and his team mates had to halt swimming.Soon after opportunities arose, he went all out and bagged many medals and accolades at the meets.

Group 2022 50m Butterfly,100m Butterfly, 50mBackstroke , 100m Backstroke was second and in the 200m Individual Medley third National Age Group Open Trial 2022 was second in the 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley second and in the 100m Butterfly fourth Then in the Pentathlon Long Course Swimming Championship 2022 he was third

Then in the National School Games 2022 50m Back stroke was first, 100m Back stroke second, 200m Individual Medley first and broke the record in the 200m Individual Medley at the National School Games 2022, when he clocked in at 2.22.30s. In the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Championship 2022 100m Back stroke first, 200m Back stroke second , 200m IM second in the Short Course Nationals 2022 100m IM third and in the 200m IM third.

Sylvestrians and Mahamaya Gymnastics champions

In the Kandy District Compulsory Gymnastics Competition 2023 held at the St.Sylvester’s College Gymnasium,over one hundred eighty from the Kandy District took part and gave a good display. The Boys championship went to St.Sylvester’s College Gymnastics club – (36 Points) Runners up Kandy Additional Gymnastics club (05 Points). Second runner rup Kandy Gymnastics Club then in the girls event champions Mahamaya Girls’ College Gymnastics Club (22 Points), Runners up Girls’High School Gymnastics Club (16 Points). Second runner up St.Anthony’s’ Girls’ College Gymnastics Club. (5 Points)
