Successful Rescue Operation of the Lost youngsters at Garandigala

A joint operation between the Police, Army and Forest Conservation officers succeeds in rescuing 33 youths who were stranded in Knuckles Reserve.

The police said that a group of young men and women who had gone to climb the ‘Garandigala mountain’ belonging to the Knuckles reserve belonging to the Ududumbara police area, got lost due to heavy rain and fog.

Upon receiving information regarding the matter, Udumbara police together with the forest conservation officers and the army started an operation to find the youngsters. The police said that 31 young men and two young women were rescued safely. They are residents of Kandy, Homagama, Colombo and Galle.
