Select Committee discusses obstacles to Ease of Doing Business

The Select Committee of Parliament to study the problems and difficulties that have arisen regarding the contribution and future plans of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission in promoting investments in this country was taken into discussion recently (15).

The afore stated was taken into discussion recently (15) when the Select Committee of Parliament to study the practical problems and difficulties that have arisen in relation to enhancing the rank in the Ease of Doing Business Index in Sri Lanka and make its proposals and recommendations met under the Chairmanship of Madhura Withanage in Parliament.

Officials representing the public and private sectors including the Colombo Port City Economic Commission, the Finance Ministry, the Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform Ministry and the Sri Lanka Board of Investment were present at this meeting.

There was a lengthy discussion pertaining to the establishment of an arbitration centre for the investments made in the vicinity of the Colombo Port City, and Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister (Dr.) Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, also joined the Committee meeting as a special guest.

The Minister and the officials representing the Colombo Port City Economic Commission discussed the current situation regarding the establishment of an arbitration centre and its early completion.

Minister Naseer Ahamed and Members of Parliament Mohomad Muzammil, Sanjeeva Edirimanna and Lalith Varna Kumara were present at the meeting.
