Police hammer CH and FC 41-26

Police SC launched their campaign for the SLR Nippon Paint Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament Plate Championship with a smashing 41-26 victory over CH and FC at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo yesterday.

After enjoying a 19-14 lead at half time, Police SC cut loose in the second half to cruise to an easy victory while collecting their points from four goals, two tries and one penalty while CH and FC responded with three goals and one try.

Police SC took the initiative with three superb tries inside the first 13 minutes of play through Yomal Suranga, Primesh Danushka and Skipper Nisal Samadi with Yohan Peiris converting two tries.

CH and FC made a strong comeback with back-to-back tries from Skipper Prasath Madushanka while Shehan Silva went over for their third try shortly after the break to level the scores at 19-19.

However, Police SC came into their own midway in the second half with a try each from Mohamed Faumy, Janith Chanaka and Akash Madushanka.

Peiris converted two of those tries and also fired across a good penalty in between as Police SC built up a commanding 41-19 lead at that time before Dushmantha Priyadarshana scored a consolation try for CH and FC in the dying moments of the game.

Air Force SC vs Army SC

Meanwhile, Air Force SC started their campaign for the Plate Championship with an impressive 27-16 victory over Army SC in their Super Round segment match played at Ratmalana.

The Airmen, after leading 13-11 at half time went on to collect their points from three goals and two penalties while Army SC responded with two tries and two penalties.

Denuwan Lakranda, Dunal Fernando and Sudath Bandara scored a try each for Air Force SC while Nuwan Perera added the extra points and booted two penalties. daraka Dikkumbura and Manoj Kumara scored a try each for Army SC while Chamath Fernando put over the two penalties.
