The Wellawa Police took into custody on February 5, the Officer-In-Charge of the Crimes Division of the Wellawa Police who is alleged to have sexually molested the wife of a Police Constable attached to the Police Special Task Force.
The Constable’s wife had lodged a complaint with Kurunegala SSP A.M.U.Chandana against the OIC.
The Kurunegala Division Child and Women Bureau conducted a full scale investigation into her complaint. The suspect was arrested after surrendering to the Police.
The Pc’s wife was a resident of Kurunegala West,Thorayaya.
Subsequent to the suspect Inspector of Police being produced before the Kurunegala Court, he had been released on bail of Rs.7,500 plus two surety bails of Rs.100,000 each.
A top Police official said that the suspect Police officer was suspended as well.
