Meta introduces broadcast channels on Instagram, deets here!

New Delhi: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced “broadcast channels” on Instagram. Broadcast channels are Telegram-like channels that allow you to share important information with your followers.

Meta is currently testing this feature with select creators in the US and will soon roll it out to others. After that, Channels will also roll out to other Meta-owned apps like Facebook and Messenger.

Instagram broadcast channels are nothing more than Telegram channels
On Thursday, Meta published a blog post announcing new broadcast channels for Instagram. Broadcast channels are for creators and accounts who want to share information with their followers.

To demonstrate this, Mark Zukerberg himself created an Instagram channel. Instagram Broadcast Channels allow you to share information in text, photos, videos, and even voice notes. Those who have joined the channel can respond to shared information, but cannot reply or respond.

In addition, the ‘Broadcast Channel’ creator can also post polls where people can vote. For example, it will help singers or bands who want to choose another city for their concert.

It sounds exactly like Telegram Channels. However, unlike Telegram, Instagram is a full-fledged social media application.

If you follow a creator on Instagram and they create their first channel, you will receive a one-time notification that allows you to join their channel. Then you can join the channel and get all the updates.

If you are not interested, you do not necessarily have to join the channel, but you will not receive any updates from the creator in the channel and cannot respond to the information shared.

“Once a creator gains access to broadcast channels and sends the first message from their Instagram inbox, their followers will receive a one-time notification to join the channel. Anyone can discover the broadcast channel and view the content, but only followers who join the channel will be notified whenever there are updates,” Meta’s blog post said.

As mentioned above, this feature will soon roll out to more users in the coming months. The feature will then arrive on Facebook and Messenger.
