According to the, Chairman of the Election Commission, Attorney-at-law, Nimal G. Punchihewa. the Election Commission will meet today (24 February) to discuss and take a decision regarding the holding of local government elections on March 09 March.
A spokesperson of the commission mentioned that many matters including the judicial process regarding the holding of the election and the contribution of the existing government institutions to it will be discussed today.
