Cabinet Spokesman and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said discussions are currently on with the Finance Ministry on the increase of payment for marking of GCE Advanced Level answer sheets and paying arrears so far.
The Minister said this while attending the media conference to inform the decisions taken at this week’s Cabinet Media Briefing.
He said the Cabinet paper submitted by the Education Minister to increase the existing amount was given policy approval and the payments will be made in consultation with the Finance Ministry Secretary.
He said that if the exam results are delayed, it will affect the lives of the children and therefore the results should be released as soon as possible in the best interests of the children.
