“Election should be held in J&K now”, Maharaja Hari Singh ‘son” demands

J&K News: It has been more than 3 years since Articles 370 and 35A were abrogated. The political parties of Jammu and Kashmir are now demanding for election. Previously leaders like Mahmooda Mufti, Farukh Abdulla, and Gulam Nabi Azad have demanded for election in the state. Now, Senior Congress leader and son of Maharaja Hari Singh ‘Karan Singh’ advocated the need for an election in the valley.

On August 19, 2019, the Central Government brought a bill in both the houses of parliament and abrogated the special status provision given under Articles 370 and 35A to Jammu and Kashmir. Along with special status, the Union government bifurcated J&K into two union territories (J&K and Ladakh)

Talking to News Agency ANI, He said, ” I think an election should be held now. it has been 3 years now and the public representative would come forward only when elections would be held.”

” We want Jammu and Kashmir to soon become a state once again. At the time of British India, J&K was the biggest state in India. It was called a ‘crown jewel’ then, but now it is just a union territory. It should become a state soon” Karan Singh said.
