Another body of a man has been recovered at the Norton bidge accident which occured last night where a bus gone off the road and fell down a precipice along the Norton Bridge – Diyagala road. Passengers on the bus were on their way back home after a pilgrimage to Sri Pada.
SSP Nihal Thadluwa has stated that according to preliminary investigations bus has gone off the road when the bus driver attempted to avoid an accident with an oncoming vehicle. Bus driver and 26 passengers have been admitted to the hospital due to injuries.
According to the Police reports, with the two women identified to have died earlier and the discovery of the third victim, total death toll has risen to three.
Two women were declared dead upon addmision to the hospital. They’ve been identified as residents of the Bandarawela and Telijjawila areas.
