Death toll over 36,000 in Turkey and Syria

One week after the earthquake in Turkey, the death toll keep rising higher and higher, almost 36,000 deaths have been reported thus far from Syria and Turkey.

Situation is Northern Syria remains dire, as the Syrian government has been unable to attend to the disaster in a prompt manner. There is heavy reliance on international aid to assist the Syrians affected by the earthquake.

UN aid chief has stated that the rescue phase in Turkey and Syria are now ‘coming to a close’ and the priority is to assist the survivors.

Meanwhile, according to BBC, more than 113 arrest warrants have been issued in relation to the construction of buildings that collapsed during the earthquake.
