Kuliyapitiya Police have arrested a 23-year-old boy, his parents and the mother of an underaged girl for allowing the sexual abuse of the said girl with their knowledge for nearly two years since 2021, on Monday. According to the police, the victim, a 13-year-old girl from Obeysekerepura, Rajagiriya had come to the house of the arrested boy in Kuliyapitiya, whom she had met on Facebook and had lived there as husband and wife for nearly two years. The mother of the girl and the parents of the boy were aware that the girl is underaged, but had not informed the police. However, in February this year the couple has had an argument and the girl had left for her house in Rajagiriya.
While she was away from home, the boy is reported to have married another girl, who is one of his cousins. Later, the girl had lodged a complaint with the police against the boy and accordingly, the arrest was made by the police. Kuliyapitiya police are investigating.
