Army Commander suspends Major General, Brigadier over alleged clash

The Army Commander has ordered the immediate suspension of a Major General and a Brigadier over an incident in Dambulla until the cause for an alleged clash between them is revealed through an investigation.

Army Media spokesman Brigadier Ravi Herath said yesterday that both of them have been suspended and investigations have been started.

It was reported the officers were on their way to the event with their wives and an argument had allegedly ensued after the vehicle in which the Brigadier was travelling overtook the Major General’s vehicle. The Army Commander has already removed these two from all their posts as per Army rules and has withdrawn all their vehicles and support services. The incident is further investigated, the media spokesman said.
