WATCH: Tim Southee becomes third Kiwi bowler to take 350 test wickets

New Delhi: New Zealand test skipper Tim Southee, has taken 350 test wickets. He is the only the third Kiwi bowler to reach this landmark. Right-arm pacers achieved this milestone, during their first test tour to Pakistan on Tuesday, December 27, at Karachi.

New Zealand all-rounder, Richard Hadlee is the highest wickets taker in the longer format, in 86 tests, he took 431 wickets at an average of 22.29 and an economy rate of 2.63. His best bowling figures are 9/52 in an innings and for a whole match, they are 15/123. Southee is behind former Captain and all-rounder Daniel Vettori, who has a total of 361 Test wickets.

Test cricket wickets records

Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for most test wickets with an impressive figure of 800 wickets. He is followed by late Australian bowler Shane Warn with 708 wickets. The swing king James Anderson, has 675 wickets to his name, followed by Indian spinner Anil Kumble with 619 wickets, and pacer Stuart Board has 566 test wickets.

Southee performance against Pakistan

Southee took 3 wickets at the cost of 69 runs in 25.5 overs, maintaining an economy rate of 2.67. Tim Southee dismissed Pakistan in-form skipper Babar Azam on 161 runs, Saud Shakeel was his next target. Henry Nicholls took the catch and Shakeel returned to the pavilion by contributing just 22 runs. Agha Salman was dismissed through LBW by Southee on 103 runs.
