Seven people have died and between 30 and 40 have been wounded when a bus skidded off the road at Radella, Nuwara Eliya after colliding with a van and a trishaw, a short while ago.
The van and the trishaw too had been severely damaged, police said.
Local media reported that the bus was transporting students from a leading school in Colombo, who were returning from their annual trip.
Police say that about 50 people were in the bus when the accident took place.
Director of the Nuwara Eliya Hospital, Dr. Mahendra Senevirathne said that the wounded are being transported to the hospital.
He said that those who have died had not been identified yet.
