New Delhi: Vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors currently remains the country’s leading company in the segment of electric vehicles with 80% market share in the market. The company aims to produce 1 lakh electric vehicles in the country to meet the ever-increasing demand. The company is currently present in the market with electric cars like Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max. Along with this, the company is also preparing to bring many of its existing cars in the electric version. According to the company, its Punch SUV will also soon be included in its electric portfolio.
Will be presented at Auto Expo
Tata Motors showcased the electric pre-production model of its hatchback Altroz at the 2020 Auto Expo and it has been spied testing on Indian roads several times. But before this car, Tata Punch Electric is expected to come in the market, which can be introduced at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Will be ready on ALFA platform
Tata Punch EV will compete in the market with the Citroen eC3, which is to be launched in 2023 itself, which is expected to get a range of up to 350 km. According to media reports, Punch Electric can be offered with two battery options, in which a range of 300 km to 350 km can be found. The Punch EV will be Tata’s first EV based on the new ALFA modular platform. The ALFA platform is compatible with multiple body types and engine options including Electric, ICE and Hybrid. The Altroz hatchback is also built on this platform.
Features
The Punch EV is likely to get features like its ICE version. It will get 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, semi-digital instrument cluster, multi-mode regenerative braking, traction control, iTPMS, leather upholstery, automatic AC, powered ORVMs, cruise control, dual front airbags, EBD. Along with ABS, other features are expected.
How much will be the cost?
The ICE version of the Tata Punch is currently available in the market at an ex-showroom price of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.54 lakh. The price of the new Tata Punch EV can be around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 13 lakh.
