Strong demand to contest from SLPP for LG polls - MP Bandara

Hundreds of individuals are coming to the party headquarters these days seeking the candidacy for the upcoming Local Government election,Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP and the COPE Chairman Prof. Ranjith Bandara said.

They were released on a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and two sureties of Rs. 10 million each.

The Magistrate also imposed a travel ban on them as well. They were then ordered to report to the CID, between 9am and 12 pm on the last Sunday of each month.

The Magistrate further ordered them to handover their asset certificates to the court.

Thilini Priyamali was arrested in October for financially defrauding several businessmen, politicians, and civil, religious, and political leaders. Investigations into the financial fraud revealed that she had allegedly defrauded Rs. 1.28 billion.’’
