Seven suspects, who were arrested along with 200 kg of heroin and crystal methamphetamine (ICE) on Wednesday, were ordered to be remanded till January 3 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera.
Two multi-day fishing craft were seized with more than 200 kg of heroin and ICE narcotics by the Sri Lanka Navy off the Southern seas. The Navy has apprehended six local suspects along with the drug haul in a joint operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy, Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and State Intelligence Service on December 14 in the deep sea off Sri Lanka’s Southern seas. The Police Narcotics Bureau requested to place the suspects in remand custody until investigations are concluded.
The Magistrate ordered the Police Narcotics Bureau to produce a report on the summary of evidence against each suspect.
