Mattala to welcome Red Wings flights twice a week from today

The Mattala International Airport will recommence international operations with Russia’s Red Wings Airline operating two flights a week from today. 

A Boeing 777-200 aircraft of Red Wings airline with 400 passengers on board is scheduled to arrive at Mattala International Airport today morning.

Civil Aviation Authority Director General and Chief Executive Officer P.A.Jayakantha when contacted by the Daily News yesterday said that the Authority is expecting to increase the number of Red Wings flights to Mattala in the future.

He said that the number of tourists coming from Russia is on the increase and the CAA expects to increase the flight operations between the two nations in the future.

Director General Jayakantha yesterday handed over the Foreign Aircraft Operator Certificate to the local representative of the Red Wings airline Thilak Weerasinghe.
