Ceyfish opening mega outlets island-wide to supply fish at low prices

A chain of fish outlets is being established throughout the country to supply fish at concessional prices by the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (Ceyfish).

The latest of these fish outlets was opened in Minuwangoda recently by Fisheries State Minister Piyal Nishantha at No. 55 Kurunegala Road in front of Nalanda College. The Mega Store chain, which is being built with the aim of providing high service to customers will allow consumers to purchase dried fish among others.

“The responsibility of the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation is not just to make a profit. It is to provide consumers with quality nutritious fish at subsidized prices and to keep the market fish prices stable,” State Minister Nishantha said.

He also said that the Corporation is working to modernise the store network by creating a modern store network. He added that efforts should be made to turn the Fishing Corporation into a profitable institution as soon as possible.

Fisheries Ministry Secretary Indu Ratnayake, Ceyfish Chairman Chaturanga Udawatta and a few others were present.
