CA Sri Lanka’s annual tax oration concludes

The 24th Annual Tax Oration of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) which was held recently focused extensively on how to fix the current tax policy.

The keynote speaker at this year’s oration was Murtaza Jafferjee, Chief Executive Officer of JB Securities and the Chairman of the Advocata Institute, a public policy think-tank, who delivered the oration on “Fiscal Consolidation Through Higher Tax Collection: Critique of Our Current Tax Policy and How to Fix It”.

Jafferjee outlined the dire need to improve Sri Lanka’s revenue mobilisation efforts by reviewing the current tax system, if the country is to achieve economic sustainability on the long run.

President of CA Sri Lanka Sanjaya Bandara, Vice President Heshana Kuruppu, Chairman of the Faculty of Taxation, Tishan Subasinghe and Chief Executive Officer Ms. Dulani Fernando were also present.
