Attack on former VC: Twelve students further remanded

The 12 students from the Peradeniya University who were arrested for the attack on former Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor Athula Senaratne of the University of Peradeniya and his son and his family members and damaged his official residence were further remanded till January 4, by the Kandy Magistrate’s court yesterday (22).

The Criminal Investigation Department, which is investigating the incident, informed court that preliminary investigations related to the incident have not yet been completed.

The students were presented for an identification parade yesterday. Six including the former Vice Chancellor and his son Vidura Senaratne were present to identify them. In the identification parade, Prof. Athula Senaratne identified six students.
