‘We’re quite happy…,’ Ireland captain after getting kicked out of T20 World Cup

Adelaide: World Cup campaign for Ireland is over after losing their last fixture to New Zealand by 35 runs. Ireland was chasing the target of 186 runs but couldn’t go past the mark of 150 runs.

After losing against New Zealand, Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie said that they are happy with their performance and the improvement. He said, in post match conference, “We played a top-class team and when you play such teams, you need to capitalize on all opportunities. We bowled well right through the tournament, the fielding was a bit off. (Coming to today) It was nice to set-up a platform – that has been a trend in this tournament, but we needed someone to kick on from there.”

We’re quite happy –  Andy Balbirnie said after losing

“We’re quite happy with what we achieved (in the tournament), compared to where we were in the last 12 months, we have improved a lot, especially against good teams and we are looking forward to meeting these sides once again. (On Josh Little) He’s a class operator and showed it today,” the captain added.

Ireland could only win one game

Ireland had managed to sail into the Super 12 of the tournament. However, the game got difficult from there and the Irish players couldn’t handle the scale of game. Ireland was part of Group 1 with giants like England, Australia and New Zealand.
