Four suspects who were arrested for assaulting two Police officers while being drunk in Piliyandala recently, were released each on cash bail of Rs.10,000 and personal bail of Rs.500,000 each after being produced in the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court.
The suspects, who are carpenters by profession were observed by two Police Constables on night security duty behaving in an unruly manner at around 11 p.m. on November 26.
Piliyandala Police say that the two Police officers approached and requested them to leave the place. An argument ensued between the suspects and the Police officers who later attacked the officers.
The Police officers had asked for assistance from the Piliyandala Police who arrested the suspects for unruly behaviour. Police say that the suspects are in the 40 to 43 age group and are residents of Piliyandala and the surrounding areas.
