Sinha Regiment commemorates fallen War Heroes

The annual War Heros Commemoration of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) was held at the regimental headquarters in Ambepussa on November 19 -20 under the patronage of Colonel of the Regiment Major General Priyantha Jayawardena together with SLSR Seva Vanitha Branch Chairperson Omila Jayawardena.

The Commemoration was followed by the floral wreath laying ceremony of the senior officers including the Colonel.

Mounting vigil and sound of the buglers marked the commencement of the ceremony. With floral tribute of the relatives of fallen War Heroes including mothers, fathers, widows, sons, and daughters unwrapped the flags in the name of their departed loved ones on behalf of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and peace of the Motherland.

Sinha Regiment troops including Officers sacrificed their lives during the humanitarian operations to eradicate the ruthless LTTE terrorism. The War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony was concluded with Reveille, and last post followed by the vigil dismounting a mid of the tears of gathered relatives.

An All-night pirith chanting followed by the alms for 66 Buddhist monks to evoke merits for fallen War Heroes was held the next day morning (20). This “Swift and Bold” activity marked the Sinha Regiment 66th anniversary on October 1.

Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Centre Commandant Regimental Centre SLSR, all staff Officers of the regimental Centre and Commanding Officers of all battalions organised the annual commemoration under the directions of the Colonel of the Regiment.

Senior Officers including regimental council members, officers and other Ranks of all 20 battalions of the regiment, members of SLSR Seva Vanitha Branch and relatives of deceased War Heroes attended the event.
