Shraddha Murder Case: Delhi Police to conduct polygraph on Aftab before Narco test

New Delhi: A Court on Tuesday allowed the Delhi Police to conduct polygraph test on Aftab Amin Poonawalla, a prime accused in Shraddha Murder case.

The Delhi Police urged the court to obtain permission of running polygraph test on Aftab accusing that he has been “misleading the authorities.”

Earlier in the day, Aftab Amin Poonawalla received permission to meet his family. During a court hearing, the accused said he was having difficulty in recalling the incident.

Advocate A Kumar, Aftab’s legal aid counsel said, “Aftab has requested to meet his family to which the court has granted permission. The hearing was done today morning around 10AM.”

As Aftab submitted that he cannot recollect memory of the incident as several weeks have passed. However, he will inform the police whenever he does.

“Aftab said he cannot recall everything at once but will inform as he does. He used a single word for victim and said he was provoked. Police will probably take him for site visit for evidence collection. Narco test soon,” informed the accused.

Aftab Amin Poonawalla killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walker and then chopped her body into 35 pieces, dumping them into a Mehrauli forest.

Earlier in the day, a Saket Court extended his police custody.

Meanwhile, in another case today, the Delhi High Court rejected a plea seeking transfer of the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for efficient probe. The plea stated that the Delhi Police is mishandling the case by leaking sensitive information to media.

“The forensic evidence in the present case has not been preserved properly by the Delhi Police since all the alleged recoveries are being touched and accessed by different public persons and media personnel within the Mehrauli Police Station,” the plea read.
