Shehbaz Sharif condemns attack on Imran Khan, seeks immediate report

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of and “severely condemned” the firing incident at Imran Khan’s long march container in Wazirabad.

According to the Dawn report, Sharif has instructed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to seek an immediate report on the incident from the IGP and chief secretary Punjab.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also informed that Sharif’s press conference on his recent trip to China had been postponed in light of the “firing in Gujranwala”.

A firing was reported on Thursday near the container of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s container near Zafar Ali Khan chowk in Wazirabad.

According to media reports, Khan sustained bullet injuries on his leg. The police said that the suspect who opened fire on Khan’s container has been arrested.

PTI’s Imran Ismail has said that party chief Imran Khan has been shot in the leg “three to four” times.

Several other people, including PTI leader Faisal Javed, also sustained injuries.
