No threat of tsunami after Sumatra quake

The Meteorological Department yesterday evening said that there is no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka following the earthquake of magnitude 6.8 what reported in the Indian Ocean yesterday evening.

Foreign media reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km from the surface and the epicentre was south of Sumatra.

The coastal areas of the country are declared safe, the Meteorology Department said.
