Monkey disturbs wasps, 24 injured in attacks

Twenty four people including 20 students of the Trinity College, Kandy primary section were admitted  to the Kandy National Hospital for treatment yesterday after wasps attacked them while engaged at football training at the college grounds. The wasp attack happened around 1 pm yesterday and the injured students and others were taken to the hospital. Police said a female police constable was also injured.

It has been revealed that a monkey had attacked a wasp nest built on a big tree near the playground stirring up the wasp’s nest.

Another group of students who were attacked by wasps were taken to private hospitals by their parents.The director of the Kandy National Hospital, Dr. Iresha Fernando said that the students and others attacked by wasps were not in any danger.
