Hunting businessman arrested in Beruwala

Beruwala Police arrested a person along with three firearms and 590 live ammos in his possession yesterday. He is a 49-year-old resident of China Fort, Beruwala.

Police had checked the suspect while he was walking through the Deenagoda railway crossing in Beruwala and found 50 live ammos in his backpack.Following that, the police had checked his residence with the support of the police dog Rexy and found the firearms and live ammos.

They include one shot gun, two unidentified weapons and 540 live ammos used for these firearms, police said.

According to the police the suspect used these weapons to hunt animals as a hobby, but investigations are being carried out, police said.

The suspect was to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate Courts. Police are investigating.
