Fuel issuance under QR to be streamlined

The Power and Energy Ministry will streamline the issuance of fuel for vehicles through the QR system to thwart filling stations from issuing fuel beyond the stipulated limits, a Ministry official said.

This will be carried out by regulating the filling stations owned by both Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC), he said. The ministry had received details of the filling stations which have issued fuel to the vehicles outside the QR code and they have been warned in writing in this regard, he said.

Meanwhile, he said that the ministry has been able to fulfill the fuel requirement of farmers and fishermen in all the districts to continue their livelihood in order to ensure the country’s food security.
