Andhra Pradesh: 6 devotees from Chhattisgarh killed in road accident

Alluri: As many as six people were killed and four others sustained injuries in a major road accident in Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh, bordering Telangana, on Tuesday.

The collision happened as a speeding lorry coming in the opposite direction rammed into the SUV. The accident resulted in the death of six people on the spot.

The victims belonged to neighbouring Chhattisgarh and were returning after a pilgrimage to the temple of Lord Rama in Bhadrachalam in Telangana, news agency PTI reported citing police sources.

A couple of passengers in the SUV sustained injuries and were shifted to the Chintoor hospital for treatment, police said.

Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The bodies of the deceased have been kept for the post-mortem.
