WATCH: David Miller reacts on snake entering in ground, says ‘I thought….’

New Delhi: The second T20I between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium was interrupted after a snake entered the ground. After the seventh over of India’s innings, players spotted a snake on the pitch and play came to a halt.

What Exactly Happened in snake incident?

It was Wayne Parnell who spotted the snake and as the play stopped, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock were seen having a chat. Groundstaff eventually ran in with sticks and a bucket and took the snake out of the field. The interruption was a minor pause in what turned out to be a scoring-fest for Rahul who scored a half-century.

After the match, South Africa’s David Miller opened up on the incident and stated, “I thought there was a lot going on there.”

It’s out of our control. It kind of just gave us a little bit of time of process what happened. Gave us an opportunity to chat about in the powerplay after the first couple of overs went India’s way. And then there was the issue with the snake as well. I thought there was a lot going on there,” he added.

India won T20I series against South Africa

India ended up winning by 16 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the series. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma put on a 96-run opening stand before the India captain left the pitch for 43(37).

While Rohit struggled a bit, after suffering a blow to his finger, Rahul smashed 57 runs off 28 deliveries before he was out in the 12th over.
Suryakumar Yadav came on to the pitch and showed his worth, smashing 61 runs off just 22 deliveries and eventually getting out only due to a mix-up with Virat Kohli.

Kohli himself went on to finish the game staying unbeaten on 49 off 28 deliveries, while Dinesh Karthik helped finish things off, hitting 17 off 7 as India posted 237/3.

South Africa had a poor start, as Deepak Chahar started with a maiden, and Arshdeep Singh then took two wickets off the next over. Aiden Markram gave South Africa some hope with his 19-ball 33, but when Axar Patel sent him back home, it looked like India had the match in the bag. But, David Miller and a struggling Quinton de Kock took South Africa close to a marvelous chase.

In the end, the total eventually proved to be too big, and despite Miller hitting a 46-ball century and de Kock finishing with 69 off 48, India managed to restrict them to 221/3.

Rohit Sharma Post-match Interview

After the match, winning captain Rohit praised his side and said, “All of us came together and said it was what we wanted to do as a team. It might not come across at times, but we want to stick to it. What I have seen in the last 8-10 months is individuals putting their hand up and getting the job done for the team.

Guys without too much experience did this as well. The team wants to play and bowl in a certain way and we want to give them that confidence. Yes, we have not bowled well at the death in the last five or six games. We are doing the same to the opposition as well.”

“To bowl and bat at the death is very tough. That is where the game is decided. It is not concerning, but we need to pick ourselves and get our act together. I am thinking of not playing Surya anymore and play him directly on 23rd. This is how is game is and we just want to keep him happy,” he added.
