Union Assurance provides essential medicines to LRH

Union Assurance presented 100 Baby Bloodline sets and 200 units of Sodium Bicarbonate to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) in Colombo, recently, as part of project Hope.

Employees of the Company generously contributed to this project to protect the children of the nation during these unprecedented times.

Given the shortage of medicine across the island, Union Assurance believes it is time to step up and ensure that essential medicine are available to treat patients.

The Chief People Officer of Union Assurance, Imtiyaz Aniff thanked the Company’s staff for supporting the Hope project. He said that their corporate culture fosters a caring attitude that permeates all levels of the organisation. “This is a noble initiative, and will help save the lives of vulnerable children in these challenging times,” he added.

Director, Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Dr. J. Wijesooriya said, “We are thankful to Union Assurance for their efforts in providing essential medicine, which helped the hospital in this crucial juncture. This contribution strengthens our health system and ensures our hospital is ready to receive all patients.”

The Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Borella is the largest free-of-charge paediatric hospital in Sri Lanka. It has a bed-strength of over 900, and serves as the national referral centre for paediatric care. 

The Deputy Director of Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Dr. Santhush Senapathi thanked the Union Assurance team for launching the Hope project. He said such initiatives by the private sector to support public health institutions are praiseworthy. “The medicine provided are essential for the health and well-being of our child patients,” he said.
