Two mountaineers who went missing after avalanche hit mount Draupadi found dead

New Delhi: Dead bodies of Assam mountaineer Deepshikha Hazarika and Tiklu Jyrwa from Meghalaya have been recovered. The two went missing in an avalanche occurred in Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand.

On October 4, an avalanche hit the mount Draupadi Ka Danda II leaving 41 mountaineers of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) trapped at an altitude of 16,000 feet.

Earlier on October 5, the NIM had released a list of 28 trainees who went missing in which, Deepshikha was also included.

NIM is a premier institution in the field of adventure sports in India. The students climbed up the Mount Draupadi Ka Danda – II at a height of 17000 ft under a training programme.

On October 4, on their way back a team of 41 mountaineers was hit by a severe avalanche.
